Our Vision
We will concentrate our charitable efforts in five key areas:
• Support of programmes designed to create “healthy families”
• Education and Childcare
• Food for the hungry
• Caring for those in need in our communities
• Doing what is right
CSR is fundamentally about doing the right things the right way - from setting high ethical expectations for our employees and suppliers, to providing a progressive and inclusive workplace, encouraging our associates to contribute and help their local communities.
2011 SELECTED CHARITIES
Every year we select a local and national charity to support and they must fall within our vision in order to be considered. For 2011 we have chosen to support Honeypot and Children In Need. The support involves a financial donation to each charity, but we want to offer more support than this, and therefore we encourage our associates to get involved with the charities by raising money or help run activities.
Honeypot:
Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support. Honeypot House is set within seven acres of beautiful land on the edge of the New Forest. They offer activities often experienced for the first time by the children who visit them, such as riding a bike, learning to swim or painting a picture. In addition, they send birthday cards, letters, Christmas presents and visits to the Honeypot Playbus, a play centre on wheels.
Children In Need:
This is the BBC's UK corporate charity and their mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. They provide support in the form of grants to organisations working with children who may have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
Other Charities:
This year we have also donated £1,000 to the Japanese rescue fund.
Besides our two selected charities every year, we also are able to support other charities and organisations that request our help. Unfortunately we can't support with financial donations but we can offer product donations. Please read on for further details if you would like us to get involved with your charity.
